Next to all of the wines from this producer on the table, this wine smells like a fruit bomb. It's not, but it is more fruity than the rest. Young cherry fruit, cranberry, red tea and a strong herbal note. Smells very youthful, crazy that this is 20+ years old. Bright red berry fruit on the palate leading into some Twizzlers candy, grapefruit and mint as the wine finishes. Great velvety mouthfeel, good acid and gentle, somewhat resolved tannin. The flavors here are very fresh, this is drinking like a wine much younger.

Tasting Group Dinner (Brad's House, Minneapolis): A bottle that I picked up at a local retailer. It had been sitting in a non-temperature controlled back room for many years. Funky mushroomy nose. Pruny, ripe, stewed red fruit flavors. Smooth texture. Not especially pleasant. A cooked bottle.

Wednesday Again: The color is a mature brownish-red. The nose has an interesting funk that fades a bit to reveal cherry fruit, expresso, raisin and floral notes. Would have been much better if the funk faded even more. In the mouth this is smooth and elegant with flavors of earthy dark fruit. Good balance with some acidity asserting itself near the finish. This was a fun bottle to taste, but the consensus was that this was a less than perfect bottle.
