  • My thinking on Grenache is that it is among the least elegant of major red wine grapes. But with its best examples in Chateauneuf du Pape, I overlook the low acidity, high alcohol, obese fruit, and sometimes ugly flavors and appreciate the overall brawny complexity.

This wine tastes like a weak CdP. It is peppery and thick with muddy brown flavors. It has a hint of red fruit brightness, but not enough to make it lively. And it doesn’t have enough weight to offset these weaknesses.

  • A very pleasant red fruit and floral nose. Ripe raspberry and cherry fruit with good body. It has mild pepper and above average acidity on the finish. I find it a little light and a little too acidic, so not worth the price.

  • Perfect with turkey and all the trimmings at Thanksgiving dinner.

  • This was the bottle I brought back from the winery last month. Pours lighter in color. Fragrant, flowery nose with characteristic grenache spice (reminds me of what Pignan smells like). Hard cherry candy, sweet leather, peppery/spicy in the core, then finishing with plenty of anise seed and good dose of sweet, cherry-tinged acid. I really enjoy this wine and it's rare that I find grenache tasting like this from CA, showing the purity and profile of grenache as it does. Delicious.

  • 100% whole cluster, and this is a winner from Chad. Herb, coiled texture and some rugged red fruits. The aromatic peppery note reminds me of a recent Allemand Chaillot. Flavors of bright cherry, lithe with some blue tones. I found this to be to my liking, done really well, bought 2 bottles to lay down for a few years.
