Very lightly colored pinot, with a fairly broad clear rim. Immediately after cork pop, the wine offers a dusty smokey aroma that I sometimes confuse with earthiness. Often it is a result of using charred (more heavily toasted) oak barrels, and it tends to conceal any fruit. In this case, I suspect the "earthiness" is actually toasted oak. After about 1 hour it diminishes and reveals sour cherry and/or raspberry. This wine is very drinkable, and has more flavor than the color would suggest. I'd rate it an 82
