Second time tasting this - 4 years on. It’s developed beautifully. Ripe citrus, orange peel, Ripe stone fruit, petrol, gunpowder. Nice acidity. Will age even longer.

Two bottles - gorgeous, juicy young wine with peaches and sweet apples. Under all the material, there is decent acid, but that is the one area of this wine that could be better...a little more acid would have gone a long way (and my score would have increased). Nice primary wine with years of enjoyment ahead. Delicious with tuna poke!

Flight 5, Germany - Robert Weil, Wine 5 (non-blind): Tasted at the winery. “VDP.Grosse Lage” according to the new 2012 VDP Classification. As opposed to the other wines of this impressive flight this wine seemed a little closed. It offered peach, pineapple, quince and mineral notes on the nose. On the palate the wine was semi-sweet, with peach and pineapple flavours, paired with medium-plus to high acidity and good length. The wine’s minerality was mostly masked by the residual sugar of 70 g/l. The sweetness was well-balanced by the lively acidity, but the fruit lacked the intensity required to shine through the wine’s structure. The wine needs time, but showed good potential to merit a higher score once it opens up. 89+ for the time being.

Very nice petrol / vegetables on the nose. Tree fruits and honey. Definitely a nice Spätlese.
