  • In the intimate ambiance of my Seattle haven, amidst the captivating rhythm of raindrops and the comforting warmth of the fireplace, the 2000 Domaine G. Roumier/Christophe Roumier Musigny unfolded as a sensory masterpiece, transforming a stormy night into an unforgettable experience of indulgence and elegance.

The Musigny revealed itself in the soft, flickering light, a deep garnet hue hinting at its age yet promising a world of complexity. It was as if the wine held the secrets of time within its depths, waiting to be unraveled.

With each swirl, the wine released an intoxicating bouquet. Aromas of ripe cherries, intertwined with subtle notes of forest floor and a hint of cedar, wafted towards me. It was a symphony of scents, reminiscent of the lush, damp earth after a summer rain, perfectly echoing the stormy night outside.

Upon the first sip, the Musigny danced on my palate with grace and finesse. Ripe red fruits, tinged with a touch of spice, harmonized beautifully with the subtlest hint of vanilla. The wine's velvety texture enveloped my senses, leaving a trail of elegance and sophistication. There was a depth to its flavor profile, a testament to the years it had spent maturing in the bottle, akin to the wisdom that comes with age.

As I sat by the fire, each sip of the Musigny seemed to tell a story. It whispered of sun-drenched vineyards and the skilled hands that nurtured the grapes, of a perfect vintage that had been captured and aged to perfection. The wine was not merely a beverage; it was a journey, a voyage through time and terroir that left an indelible mark on my soul.

In the midst of the storm, the 2000 Domaine G. Roumier/Christophe Roumier Musigny became a beacon of tranquility and refinement. It was a reminder that amidst life's tempests, there exist moments of sublime beauty and taste, encapsulated in a glass of exceptional wine. This Musigny was not just a drink; it was an experience, a testament to the artistry of winemaking and the joy it brings to those who appreciate its nuances.

Note to self: Literal blender for 5 mins, finesse glass by glass

  • 200 Burgundy Grand Crus from vintage 2000, 4-day blind tasting (Singapore): Different to the others a bit, deeper richer, riper but still, precise but with stingy tannins and slightly drying finish. Probably not picked a full phenolic ripeness back then.

  • Not off bottle, but slightly mature. More dark cherry than red fruit.

  • Hint of stem and spice, effervescent aromatics. Placid, serious depth to palate. Reasonably sweet.

  • Red fruit with dark tea and assorted earth-driven notes. Initially high-toned and feminine, but develops a deeper coffee undercurrent with time. Still quite compacted - very fine tannins but wonderful balance, focus, and purity throughout. Gains weight with time, but maintains a delicate and nuanced profile. Sappy and textured. Still very, very young, but quite delicious now and wonderful promise...unfortunately, I'll probably never see another bottle.
