This wine has reached such a perfect point in its evolution, where each element is discernible without overwhelming anything else. The fruit is red and fresh but accented with some purple floral notes. The tertiaries present like dark roast coffee and potting soil. A touch of grape stem rounds everything out. It's definitely softer than some other old-school Saint Joseph like Chave or Gonon, though.

Drank over three nights, gaining in depth substantially over time. Deeply-fruited nose of dark blue / purple berries, with some pine sap, tar, and scorched earth flavors, and a pyrazine/stem accent. Fresh-tasting and medium weight. A nice wine, given the price, even though it's not in the style I prefer these days.

It took a while but this wine is now showing off. Fantastic nose of damp forest floor and dark fruit. Spice and dark cherries with the first taste. The wine really evolved from glass to glass. Delicate finish. I think the time is now for this wine.

No formal note but this is drinking well now - a delicious bottle of northern Rhône Syrah and years of life ahead
