  • Purchased at my local Baron’s for <$20. No idea if it has sat on the shelf or warehouse. I found it lackluster, mostly dried black cherry, roasted dark plum thats turning toward prune at this point. There is some cedar, espresso, and if you squint hard enough one could see the pencil shavings in the coarse tannin. Worth the price point, but was hoping for something more harmonious. I do wonder how storage has affected this wine.

  • The third label of Grand Puy Ducasse, this brims with character and shows the class of the 2010 vintage. Plump black cherry, cassis, smoke, tobacco, leather, and black olive aromas. Full bodied, very balanced, with soft tannins, and earthy flavors of camphor, dark chocolate, and licorice root - dirt and all. Very good now but this will be lovely for years to come.
