Dark ruby with mild clearing at rim. Medium(+) aromas of sweet red/blue fruit with strong green pepper/ herbaceousness, which is really dominant. Full and generous palate which echoes the nose but with somewhat darker fruit and underlying bitter/green aspect. Medium tannins and medium acidity. Alcohol appears high and wine slightly disjointed due to this. Perhaps a little underripe, but I really enjoy the herbaceousness.

While I think this wine isn't the best I've ever sampled, it was certainly worth while priced, and was a change a pace to have a carmenere. I wouldn't rate it a 70 as rated previously, that must speak to a poor bottle. Dark fruit nose and palate. Neither of them stick out as exceptional, but neither disappoint really. At $15-20, to get a taste for a well made uncommon varietal, I wasn't opposed.

This wine drinks "below average" not to the high score currently on cellartracker. Purchased at a restaurant after having lots of success with the 2011 Alma carmenere, but was very disappointed with this Silva.

Extremely vegetal nose, green pepper notes. Lacks much fruit and a bit underwhelming.
