Decanted 3 hours, then consumed over the next 3. Some sediment in the bottle. Dark purple in color. Blackberry preserves, black cherry, plum, tar, dirt, and coffee. Full-minus body. Medium acidity. Medium, incorporated tannins. I taste the tar that previous notes mention, but it seems in balance with the fruit, so perhaps this has settled down since then (two were from 2014)? It went well with pan seared ribeyes. I'd drink this now or during the next 1-2 years.

Burnt chemical nose/taste. Burt rubber, burnt incense, burnt polyester, burnt whatever. Maybe tar/asphalt - not simply medium+ barrel toast. Very off-putting. Almost nasty. Kind of like burnt cigarette butts in a glass of wine overnight and drinking it the next morning. I suffered through about half of the bottle hoping it would improve. Maybe it was a bad bottle, but at least one other person used "burnt" in his tasting note, so I'm not sure. I can't imagine why I liked this at the winery. EDIT: Day 2 showed slight improvement, but not a lot.

Tar & fresh asphalt on the nose. It's like driving through a construction site. Hot glue gun on the nose. Burnt rubber. Medium body. Disjointed but fruit forward. It just smells like tar right now. There is some dirt hidden and this needs about 5-7 yrs to come together. I had not tried it yet so I wanted to but I'm regretting that. Here in the midwest the seasons are winter and road construction and this reminds me of the latter season.

I have found Malbec not my favorite and seldom select. This was a nice surprise and thoroughly enjoyed.

Hot and alcoholy. Don't think this will get any better with age. Dark fruit, cassis, tobacco. Medium body at best.
