  • Golden coloured. Pineapple, background herbs, orange and lime. Honeyed sweetness sweeps across the palate into a tangy acid finish. Good to go now for drinking.

  • This is really in top shape. Deep golden yellow, really alive on the bouquet with exotic fruits and great concentration on the palate with depth, richness, smoothness and a sweetness that was unexpected. Yes, as others have mentioned, this has been made in a demi sec style. Went superbly with sushi/sashimi plate. Absolutely no signs of falling over, this could go years even decades if it tastes like this at 33 years old. I love old wines where by design or fortuitous accident there is a perfect marriage of acid/fruit/tannin/oak so it has blended into a harmonious seamless taste experience.

  • In a very nice spot right now, but probably has many years of life left. Demi-sec, but not at all cloying.

  • Self-isolation wine highlights (Wellington, NZ): A graceful, old Chenin Blanc. Developed, detailed and interesting. Deep gold colour. Aromatically quite complex including notes of pineapple, nectarine, yellow apple, cinnamon, smoke, lemon toffee, honeycomb and nougat. A clean, sweet entry. A complex array of flavours including quince, lychee, preserved lemons, Earl Grey tea, lemon honey and minerals. A nice balance between the sugar and the acidity. Sweet and juicy but not cloying. Refreshing but not aggressive acidity. Good weight, body and concentration. Finishing bright, clean and quite long. Far from at the end of its life. Drink over the next 10 or so years.

  • 12,5% alcohol.

Concentrated, somewhat developed golden yellow color with faint green highlights. The nose is very developed and mature with tertiary aromas of wool socks, some smoke, a little bit of gasoline, hints of wizened yellow stone fruits and a touch of dust. The wine is very concentrated and incredibly racy on the palate with pronounced sweetness, moderately full body and intense flavors of developed creamy character, some peanut butter, light steely mineral character, a little bit of dried stone fruits, a hint of lemon marmalade and a touch of smoke and lanolin. The wine is really high in acidity with almost piercing character, yet the mouthfeel is somewhat weighty and a bit oily. The finish is quite sweet, focused and pretty steely with intense, juicy flavors of lemon marmalade, some woolly lanolin, a little bit of tart green apples, a hint of quinine bitterness and a touch of beeswax.

A remarkably focused and beautifully developed Vouvray with bracingly high acidity and incredibly complex flavor profile. It's hard to say whether the wine will continue to develop from here, as most of the aromas and flavors feel very tertiary, but no doubt this wine will kep for years like this. Doesn't really require any furhter aging, wonderful as it is.
