Popped and poured but tasting note performed after a couple of hours open.
Wine is a brick-crimson with a clear edge. Not particularly bright. Can't see through it.
On nose, wine is fairly evocative - red fruit, baking spice, and that ferrous tomato note.
On palate, acid predominates. Tannins have softened nicely and the wine is dry. Not much of a finish.
A good wine but not awesome. Pretty simple on the palate but the nose is really nice. My guess is that this was not that great earlier on in its life as the tannins plus acid on the palate would have overpowered anything else. Drink up.

I agree with Prgrzesik - this is an odd pinot. Smells nice, has notable strawberry mouth-forward sharpness, yet it's also astringent with some strong back of mouth acidity. Not enough fruit, nor sufficiently interesting fruit, to keep up. Apparently beyond its window. Still enjoyable. Good glycerine legs, good color.

Decanted over 30 minutes. First time trying a pinot noir from Joseph Phelps. The nose was rather elegant and pleasant with hints of mocha, Coca Cola, orange peels, raisins. However, this wine went downhill once I tried it! It was very astringent, tart tasting, and harsh on the palate. Felt disjointed. Maybe my bottle was off, but not really like others described this wine. Was definitely not corked. But just couldn't put my finger on what was going on with this wine. This wine was all over the place, confused, not harmonious at all. My wife however thought this was a great wine! Agree to disagree I suppose - but that is the joy of wine, everyone has a different opinion on what they like and don't. We will leave it at that.

Muted flavors of black cherry. A bit of forest floor. Falls short on the finish.

Quite good but memory fails on details. I will say that QPR here is excellent. This is the last of a case and I will get more. Euro taste profile.
