A beautiful, elegant wine with class. Mainly stonefruits and apples on show, with a bit of mango and pineapple on the medium bodied, well integrated, slightly creamy yet minerally palate. The balance and precision here are excellent. Loved this (A-).

Nose: delicate faint tropical fruit, slight smokiness, very slight petrol (after an hour… upon opening there was no smokiness and more petrol).
Palate: the tropical fruit continues, framed by a citrus-pith acidity, and just a hint of nuttiness and honey (more like a general white richness).
At this point, the wine is just balanced and superb. More so with food. The first taste seemed overly dry, but every subsequent half hour, as it opened, it got “sweeter” and richer. Never in a cloying way, but the flavours just kept teasing themselves out further and further. Approaching hour 3 as I type this.

A restrained Riesling that goes beautifully with roast chicken. It has minerality and those wonderful bright almost fizzing fruit drop flavours. So it is absolutely all there and in great condition. Lovely. Drink with food.

Flatiron Wines Seminar: Selbach-Oster w Johannes Selbach (Skurnik Wines, New York, NY): Musty on the nose. Yeast? Lees? Lychee and papaya. Some citrus or pineapple? Good acid - lively. Nose - 4/6. Palate - 5/6, Finish - 4.5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1/2 = 14.5/20.
