Blackberry liqueur, blueberry jam, sweet tobacco on the nose and on the palate. Bittersweet impression on entry, turning sweet and slightly watery on the finish. Medium finish. Tannins are fully resolved, acidity on the low side. Alcohol is high, but not too bad. Overall, feels like a less concentrated and less structured version of a good Priorat. A very good wine overall. Pleasure to price ratio: 4/5.

Monthly Tasting Group HWS #136; Mourvedre (By RvD): Dark berries, sweet spices, mushrooms and autumn forest in the bouquet. On the palate juicy sweet spices, firm but good acidity and good tannin. Harmonious and complex wine. Really beautiful now.

I expected more from this producer... It just goes to show that you cannot balance a wine at 15 % alc. even in a Mediterranean climate. Clearly the ripening conditions were very favorably, as I have seen from other producers in 2007. Sadly, this misguided idea of over-ripeness didn't work. The wine lacks balance and layers. The alcohol is clearly present on the palate. A disappointment...

Initially, quite hot, with drying tannin and little fruit. After an hour or two, opens up to reveal red fruit, herbs, pepper, some spice. Still fairly unexciting, with drying tannin and lacking complexity.

Third Thursday blind tasting group - Mourvedre's (Mike's) (11/20/2014): Solid, but never really moved out of first gear - plenty of youthful dark fruit here tinged with earth and some spicy and other savoury notes, but it also feels a touch simple and one-note on the palate. The balance is good, but it doesn't develop much with air and it's relatively dull in contrast to the other Bandols poured alongside.
