Italian Wine Scholar Class at the Texas Wine School. This blend of Bosco and Albarola is an Elio Altare project. Given the age, the color is a medium (+) gold. It is unfiltered and unfined, giving it extra depth of color. The nose is clean, developed, with aromas of green apple, candied orange, grapefruit rind, tropical fruit, dried herbs, wet stone and a hint of smoke, petrol and honey. No oak. The palate is dry with medium (+) acidity, medium alcohol (12%) and a slight hint of tannins. This wine is intensely flavored, with the citrus dominating, and a nice minerality to the finish. At this stage in its evolution, it has some characteristics of an orange wine and/or of an aged dry Chenin Blanc. It was probably at its peak a couple of years ago, but it is obviously remarkably age-worthy and complex.

Very interesting wine with some oxidation in the style of VinNature. Very difficult to guess, we found, although SF later claimed this to be a favorite wine of his. Minerality here, fat fruit, good density and acidity, #ÅretsRet

I didn't really enjoy this wine last time, but this bottle, served closer to room temperature was pretty tasty. Herbs, apple and shades of peach. Dry with a little salinity on the finish. An interesting wine.

This is an interesting wine. Very dry and tart with herbs and a little saline to go along with the apple and unripe peach. Ann liked it but it didn't resonate with me like the 2011 did. Much better with food than as a quaffer.

Several shades darker than the Guardiola Chardonnay; if this makes any sense as a descriptive, a "heavier" nose - I think Jeff Vaughn made this observation about the 2011, but this wine certainly seems to have some "orange wine" characteristics.
Bone dry on the palate, adequate framing acidity, medium-bodied - certainly an interesting wine here, and probably better when paired with food.
