  • Concentrated golden yellow character. Very rich and concentrated nose with aromas of honey, pineapple, some very ripe yellow apple and a hint of leafy currant notes. On the palate the wine contrasts the concentrated nose with surprisingly light-to-medium-sized body and moderately high acidity. There are rich, very complex and quite powerful flavors of herbal greenness, stony minerality, some ripe apple, a little vanilla, a hint of sweet pineapple and a touch of mushy apricot. The finish is remarkably long, complex and constantly evolving with pronounced, mouthwatering acidity and flavors of wet rock minerality, ripe apple, lemon marmalade, some vanilla and a hint of toasted wood.

First of all, I dislike obviously oaked whites, I really don't like a great majority of Sauvignon Blancs and I vehemently oppose the so-called "Fumé Blanc" style of whites (aka oaked Sauvignon Blancs).

But this wine, it really impressed me. Although obviously showing oak aromatics and definitely a Sauvignon Blanc, I was still enjoying it surprisingly much. The wine isn't as excessive as many of its Fumé'd peers and it shows surprisingly nice balance, focus and structure. Although not really a wine I that I'd really love, I still would be interested to see how the wine behaves with some years under its belt. At least the wine is quite promising concerning its aging potential.
