A deep but fresh golden colour with a green tinge at the edge. It had a complex and expansive nose of spiced orchard fruits, spearmint cream, smoke, toast and white mushroom. The palate is rich, heady and explosive. There's a touch of something green and nettle-like below the flesh, giving a nod to the vintage. It has such great volume and the finish is so long and layered, with a gentle squeeze of grapefruit right at the end.

In a nice place. Smells of custard apple, toast, autumn leaves, vanilla and cinnamon. It is rich and heady in the mouth. There are hints of exoticism and a heart of sweet peach. It is layered, powerful and very long., with some toffee apple development.

Amy's Semicentennial Birthday "Season"; 7/21/2017-7/23/2017 (La Jolla, California): Although many of Sauzet's wines have been plagued by premature oxidation, this particular bottle shows nothing of the sort. Medium gold in color, it is fresh, medium-bodied, seamlessly alcoholic and packed with complex aromas and flavors. Nougat, wet stones, lemons, peaches and almonds adorn the nose and palate. The middle is dense and the lengthy finish concludes with a wisp of spice. This 13-year-old specimen is very youthful. Bottles in comparable condition should hold up well for several more years. Drink now-2024.

(Etienne Sauzet Montrachet) Pale lemon yellow color; floral, lemon and mineral nose; sweet lemon palate, rich, but young and very tight, with great length; long finish

Color looks perfect here (and as you might imagine given the producer, we were worried about that).
Tight nose at the outset, with buttered nuts in the background. Pristine bottle on the palate - lengthy finish. Really nice.
