Enjoyed next to an '01 Rieussec, the volume of which made it hard to parse this underspoken wine. When considered alone, it's a lovely Chenin with emphasis on earl grey, honeyed pear, and purity, with a clean line of acidity, light botrytis, modest sweetness.

Just lovely. Super elegant, balanced, honeyed wine with pear/quince notes and white flowers. Perhaps getting a touch soft but still fresh and wonderfully textured. Bravo.

Two visitors, three birthdays and seventeen wines from all over. (ABA Turkish Restaurant): A lovely if somewhat atypical showing for this wine. I hadn't had it since the re-release about 5-6 years ago and at that time, the wine showed a lot of power, a fairly rich texture and more of an apricot profile than anything else. This bottle was understated, elegant and more dominated by pear, apple and quince than just apricot and orange citrus, though they was certainly there. Additionally, there was an intriguing high quality black licorice note I've never experienced before. Beautifully balanced and singing a pretty song, but not at the top of its lungs. A-/A.

Dinner with the Newlyweds (Nopa, San Francisco): Medium yellow. Warm honeyed nose. Moderate sweetness. Stone fruit and citrus. Great length and balance. Delicious and at a perfect point. This has been consistently outstanding and a great value over the last 5 years.

Dinner With Alain Coudert, Francois Pinon, Marc Ollivier, and the Baudrys (Hundred Acres NYC): This was just a fantastic, close to extraordinary wine. Brought over directly from the domaine's cellars, provenance assumed to be perfect. A captivating nose wafting from the glass, I could smell this all night long. From a vintage with little bortrytis, the balance between sweetness and acidity was impeccable. Everything seems to be well integrated, nothing standing out... the flavors just wash over the palate and slowly build into the lingering finish... just fantastic.
