The CFO's Birthday: PYCM never seems to do it for me. Expected far more intensity and persistence from a Batard Monty. It was good, but never really touched on great, unfortunately. Likely served much too warm.
Maybe others have a better assessment from the evening.

Sulphur nose, lean and precise, but not the longest finish. I guessed a Leflaive Puligny 1er. Surprised on the reveal, would have expected more from this wine.

At Butterfly, Woolloongabba. This wine opened with a classical pale green gold colour and an initially reserved nose that opened to reveal a classical show of white peach, nashi pear, a twist of lemon and lime and touches of spearmint finishing with the smell of limestone in the rain. The palate is similarly initially reserved with a classic linear structure with little of the typical Batard opulence. it opens to reveal a fruit plate that reflects the nose and that fans into a grippy structure with plenty of minerality and length. A terrific bottle but with plenty in reserve for a long development.

DC/Chicago Wine Dinner Extravaganza (Smyth and The Loyalist - Chicago IL): In top 2012 Bâtard-Montrachet flight. Open almost two hours before serving, so no reduction. Opulent aromas with peach, ginger and shortbread. Least ripe of the flight, while still very long and powerful. Also on the backward side, this will reward more cellar time.

Annual gathering with Chicago winos in Chicago – DRC RSV vertical, Selosse – Lieux-Dits and etc. (Smyth and The Loyalist - Chicago IL): Expressive nose displaying ripe succulent yellow fruit, lemon curd, apple sauce, yellow peach, candied ginger, flint, spicy spices and limestone. Excellent concentration, layers jupon layers of concentrated yellow fruit, dense and oily without losing precision and focus, bright acidity, strong limestone mineral and a long ripe yellow fruit driven finish with a hint of flint at the end. Similar weight as the 12 Bernard Moreau but fresher. Excellent showing.
