{Corton Clos des Corton tasting organized by JL at Black Cat} Pretty nose, quite big on the palate but surprisingly drinkable, best balance in this flight with the 1998, 2001 Clos des Cortons and the 2010 Gevrey-Chambertin Cazetiers put in as a ringer (and my favorite of the flight), same score as the great 2010 Cazetiers.

Jordan Intro-Retro (Zoom / Chicago): Double blind. Nose is very shy and shows only modest amounts of non-delineated cherry fruit. Palate is dense, big and broodingly shut down. My #8, Group #9. This is very clearly closed down at the moment - particularly relative to the good showings of the underdog 2011 and the amazing 2010.

Chicago Wine Flock...Burgundy Double Blind from JW (Chicagoland IL): In Faiveley Corton-Clos des Cortons Faiveley 2010-2012 vertical. A bizrarre wine. Lighter style than I ever recall from before (shut down completely?) while showing the vintage's warmth, this ust did not show the intensity i recall from when tasted shortly after release through 2018. Not much pleasure here, an odd bottle (?) vs the many times I tasted previously.

(Faiveley Corton-Clos des Cortons Faiveley) Medium ruby color with pale meniscus; appealing, ripe cherry, cherry pie filling, roses nose; rich, tasty, tart cherry, tart raspberry, mineral palate with medium acidity; needs 6 years; medium-plus finish

Friends of Musique et Vin Gala (French Club, San Francisco): Dull red with fading. Lighter weight. Nigh onto perfect faded red fruit, earth, sous bois mix. Supple and remarkably ready at this point. Really excellent.

Decant 6 hours. Amazing aromas of earth, smoke, and elegance. Classic Burgundy. Drink with chicken and mushrooms or similar type dishes.
