Disappointing. I was a huge fan of his Pagos Viejos back in the early days. This is quite a different wine from the sun kissed generous warm style of old. This was tart, mid weight and a little austere. Still made in a modern fruit driven style but clearly picked less ripe than previously. Still very primary, high tannins. Medium finish and straightforward. Might as well drink now, I doubt it will improve.

Sweet cherry raspberry nose that is also present on the palate. Solid fruit core, balanced acidity and softened tannins veg well balanced. Lengthy finish reveals this wine will still improve with a little more time.

Had a direct comparison with 2005 and 2010. 2005 is ready to drink. Outstanding. 2010 is too much of everything. Might need another 10 yrs. 2012 should be ready to drink in 5 yrs. It has the most potential of all three. Great, but not too intense fruit. A bit salty. A bit of chocolate. All very nice integrated already. This has the potential of getting to 98.

Beautiful cherry raspberry and vanilla nose. Good red fruits on the palate with but acidity and tannins require time to achieve balance.
