4th Saturday Group Cellar Diminishment (Sue’s): Soft mousse. Generic and nondescript, adjectives which did not change when I revisited this later in the evening. I suspect this wasn’t a pristine bottle, as it just wasn’t giving up much of anything and should have been much better. (SS)

Endlessly drinkable California sparkling that pleases almost any palate and has one of the best bubble profiles among the Napa sparkling producers. Yellow with an ever so slight tinge of green, the aroma opens with pears and red apples, with an assertive toasty yeast characteristic. The taste is round and a touch rich, but not to the extend of the Le Reve or LD Le Reve. Always pick up about 3 of these for each Le Reve I purchase. Develops well over time.

2007 Late Disgorged Brut Cuvée offers enchanting aromas of fresh Meyer lemon and Red Delicious apple. On the palate, lush layers of ripe nectarines, classic crème brûlée, and cinnamon are served on a supple, richly integrated structure.

Beautiful color of wheat as it passes from pale green to light yellow several weeks before harvest. Fine persistent beads are mesmerizing. Aromatic profile is bread and yeast and bread and yeast and bread and yeast. Then some toast and toasted nuts. Incredibly, a very faint aroma of blueberry/blueberry pie appears as a secondary layer. Mouthfeel is very rich and smooth, almost creamy. Finish is long, smooth, if not a bit narrow. Definitely makes you reach for another pour.
