  • Okay, I'll admit it: I bought this wine because of its funky gold and black label. But it turned out to be quite decent, far exceeding my expectations, especially for a screw-cap wine (I hate screw-caps). Nice color; nose initially had some of that green pepper smell you find in a lot of South American Cabs, but this disappeared after about an hour, giving way to a faint cherry scent. On the palate it is a little light, has some cherry and blackberry flavors over very soft tannins. Not much oak evident, reasonable ABV of 13%. Clean finish. Not complex or challenging, but tasty and easy drinking. At less than $10, this outclasses many wines in its price range. And the incredibly cool label is a bonus!
