Dusty. That was the consensus of tonight's tasting panel (i.e. spouse, grown kids and neighbors). While still balanced, there was a big streak of earthy, dusty ash and faded fruit running right through the middle of this wine.
Some couldn't even find the fruit.
Paired well with a big steak right off the grill, I don't think this wine has much life ahead of it beyond what it is right now. But then another reviewer said that 2 years ago and here we still are! Surprised that it received a 90 from Wine Spectator only 5 years ago.

There are better values in Portugal, even for under $10 It is a pleasant wine as a house or party wine, but not above others I've had at this price level. Beware the 2020 drinking window as I believe it may be peaking out now.

Dark murky purple with a slight brown edge. High octane nose with cherry, cedar and licorice. Undrinkable, my guess is it turned.

Ruby color. Smoke, dried fruit, and earth notes. Smoke, leather, and dried cherry flavors. Thin in the mouth with a medium finish.
