quite natural and interesting, needs time to reveal, initially felt quite evolved, maybe the hot year, notes of port/marsala, but with time it goes away and reveals beautiful harmony, enjoyed the most after 2-3hours we opened the bottle

Decanted for 2 hours. I’d say the 2011 is still only just at the start of its drinking window. Not really showing much sign of maturity, and to me seemed quite austere, but the quality is undeniable. It feels like it could age for years, and its peak is a long way off still.
It didn’t seem too tannic at first, but by the end of the second glass my mouth was puckering. Nose is very Bordeaux-like, whereas the pallet had some sweetness of fruit, presumably from the Sangiovese. Finish was quite long.
Overall a nice bottle, and compared to something like Tig I think it offers better value for money.
92 points for now, but could rise to 94 in time.

95 because it was drank in Rome ? At least 94. A great wine at its peak. It still has ripe fruits with integrated tannins. The mouth is complex. Very long finish. Castello dei Rampolla rarely disappoints!
