  • Smell: cassis, dried fruit, soil. Sweet liquorice.

Taste: Vanilla and oak. Plenty of tanninens. Plums.

Drank to pasta with salvia, butter, prosciutto and parmesan. Really nice!

  • The wine looks crimson colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like banana, leather, gooseberry and the ski boot room in Courchevel. It tastes like blueberry and only blueberry. The body is medium. The wine has coarse texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has low acidity.

This must be the biggest disappointment so far in my "wine" life. How the producers could release this wine under an anniversary flag goes beyond me, but it goes to show Mondavi wineries have lost touch with their customers. I'll give away the remaining bottle to someone I don't like.

  • Rich, huggingly friendly, Californian, moderately oaked CS that is very young.
On the palate: young. It displays M acids and M tannins with a slight bitterness in the tail. (Went very well with food.) Rich, inviting, friendly, easy drinking Californian CS that is not for keeping. Delicious!
    Linger Ficken Good!
    Wife: 85p.
Not for cellaring. Will not buy.
At Mercian tasting at La Verdura, lead by Mr Satou.
