  • I have a soft spot for 'traditional' buttery Californian Chardonnay, and this fits the bill nicely. Not profound butt really enjoyable.

  • Medium golden colour. Stone fruit, ripe apple, melon, butter, almond, nuts and oak spice, with medium-level acidity, a buttery texture and very good length. Smoothly textured, integrated and fairly harmonious. Good. In a good place. Drink now and over the next three or four years.

  • Clear, medium lemon, with gold hues. The nose is clean, with ripe yellow apples, lime, white flowers, vanilla and medium (+) oaky toast. The palate is dry and consistent with the nose, with ripe lemon, tropical fruit and a buttery, slightly salty finish. The acidity is medium, whereas the alcohol is high at 14.5%. This is a medium (+) bodied Chardonnay, with medium (+) flavor intensity and length. It is good, but slightly unbalanced towards softness and thus is a little flat and plodding. It shows much better when served chilled. Drink now, as it is at its peak or slightly past.

  • Clear, medium lemon in color. The nose is clean, with ripe yellow apples, lime, white flowers, vanilla and medium to medium (+) oaky toast. There was also a slightly off-putting asparagus and flower stem component which then blew off. The palate is dry and consistent with the nose, with ripe lemon, tropical fruit and a buttery, slightly salty finish. The acidity is medium to medium (+) whereas the alcohol is high at 14.5%. This is a full-bodied Chardonnay, with medium (+) flavor intensity and length. It is good, but slightly unbalanced towards softness and thus is a little flat and plodding. Drink now, as it is at its peak or slightly past.

  • “The Faces of Chardonnay”, Flight 8, Wine 3: This medium-bodied Chardonnay was refined and well-balanced, with juicy fruit, good, medium-plus acidity, good concentration and very good length. A very nice Chardonnay. My second favourite wine of the 20 Chardonnays tasted.
