This may be my last bottle of a half case. Now getting the petrol of great Rieslings. Aging quite well, still bright and crisp. I’m sold on this maker and terroir. Definitely cellarable.

Impressive from the start, bright and full of energy even at age 10ish . Soft petrolly, bright polished acidity , even a touch waxy. Bone dry of course albeit polished and with a rich character. Citrus zest and really delicious if we are to be peasants. 92-93

Amaranth is Dry River’s designation for wines they believe will age unusually well. This incredible Riesling is the only one of their current releases to receive this designation. It’s big and dry and very young and incredibly concentrated for only 11.5% alcohol.
What blew me away was the dead-on and unmistakable “petrol” quality of great dry Riesling that was only an element in the wine’s complexity, not dominant.

Drinking beautifully now. Always good with Chinese and certainly better with food. A little bit of sweet there, but behind the citrus - lemon and a hint of pear. Not high on mirerality.

A little frizzante on the opening now, but still very good.
