A private dinner (Restaurant Manresa **, Los Gatos, California, US): A very rare wine, produced by only 330 vines in Calera's Jensen and Chardonnay vineyards. Probably the only attempt at making a high quality wine from this grape variety outside Burgundy and certainly the only one in California. There is a certain toasty quality to this (unoaked) wine, a little more weight and ripeness than is customary in Burgundy, slightly softer and richer but with the signature crisp lemon fruit and steely acidity, lovely balance, pure flavours, flinty minerality, good length.

I liked this bottle of a varietal that I don't have a lot of experience with. This complimented the Easter dinner we enjoyed. Nice pear undertones and just the right amount of acidity. Very approachable and a nice Spring offering.

Clean cork. Surprisingly still fresh in a mature, slightly oxidative style. Starting to come down from peak, but quite enjoyable nonetheless.
