Brown-red color. Noses as a very tired old wine; yechhhh. Some dried prune and menthol. Old high alcohol late harvest zin flavor: no pleasure. Slighty bitter finish. Waited three hours for retaste: horribly sour. Bottle #3 of four.

A complex bouquet of cinnamon, wild black berries, brown sugar, roasted figs, and burnt matchsticks. In the mouth, more wild, sweet berries, a mouthful of dirt, and fine-grained, rustic tannins that reminded me of a well-aged Brunello. Everything was fully integrated and in balance. An incredible bottle of wine, and definitely my kind of wine, although it lacked the "animal" qualities that I love to experience in Bea's sagrantino. Drink in the next few years. Bottle #5880. Rated 3 on a scale of -1 to 3.

Another "off" bottle. Even waiting some time for it to open up didn't help. A bit soured and raisins red.
