  • Initial decant of one hour. Smooth, silky, deep dark fruit, but reticent nose. Tannins submerged beneath the fruit. After 2+ hours red cherry fruit began to emerge, though shyly. This simply needs time to come forward, but the elements are there. Try again in 1-2 years? 89-90 now, but likely to improve.

  • Still some funk in 2023 along with biting tanins
Some fruit notes on nose and definitely mid.
    Tart cherry more than sweet
    Some spice.
Waited a long time to drink and I’m satisfied but not overjoyed

  • Relatively youthful appearance. Might say classic aroma - animal and barnyard notes with earth and spice. Opening to fruitier and more baking spice notes.
Pleasant entry - balance of tannin and fruit in a smooth package. Mid is blackberry or ripe/dried cranberries - not tart or bracing.
Reasonable length with plenty of acid. Not as austere as expected from this producer, wine has aged well and has at least several years left. A nice package which went well with braised short ribs!

  • Medium expressive nose displaying generous red fruit, strawberry jam, cherry, sap, mushroom, sweet spices and earth. This particular bottle is showing sous bois. Very good concentration, nicely layered sweet red fruit, warm and round, bright acidity, earthy mineral, and a long ripe red fruit driven finish with sous bois at the end. Starting to show sous bois which makes me happy. Looking forward to try another one in five years.

  • Youthful nose displaying ripe red fruit, cherry, strawberry, rose, sap, sweet spices and earth. Good concentration, nicely layered earthy red fruit, silky, perfect amount of acidity and earthy mineral and a medium to long ripe red fruit driven earthy finish. This still is not showing much sous bois. I believe this can improve for at least another decade or longer.
