Medium bright ruby, narrow legs Nose showed clear signs of cork, and cork alone. Dry, medium acidity, medium(-) tannin, body and medium-medium(+) alcohol with heat. Medium flavors of cherries, strawberries, leather, mineral, chocolate, weak notes of cardboard. Sinewy texture, balanced. Good length with chewy cocoa flavored finish. Dommage.

This took a bit to open up and balance out. Tight early, and a bit stinging, but after a little time in the glass it really came together. The fruit woke and the lingering finish of the earth, and possibly some vanilla overtones? but in any event, the complexities continued to mature in just a few minutes. I wish I knew exactly what I was getting, but whatever it was, it was good and fun to "play" with.

Peppery like a watery Zinfandel although not unpleasant. Like this winery's other efforts to fit square pegs into round holes, I give them credit for their Dr. Frankenstein efforts, but you have to wonder why they don't just stick to making Zin in Zin country. Overpriced at 35 bones.

Below expectations - too heavy for a Pinot on a warm summer's night
