Going to agree with the recent comments that this wine starts out fairly straightforward and simple. That being said, everything's there and in its place. Good clean fruit balanced by nice acidity, spice, and the right amount of oak for a Cali Pinot. I give a good score because it is well made and, IMHO, exactly what a Sonoma Pinot should be at this price. (To clear the air, I'm much more an Oregon/burgundy Pinot drinker myself)

Considerably better than the previous bottle. Must speak to some bottle variation as the last bottle was consumed only a month or so ago. Fog Dog is reminiscent of Sta. Rita Hills pinots with a full bodied earthy style. This bottle was in line with those characteristics. Lots of sour cherry on the palate with a hint of licorice on the finish. Light to medium bodied with a slightly acidic finish.

I am usually a fan of this wine, finding that it usually demonstrates a bit of the smokiness and earthy qualities most often found in the Pinots produced farther south n Santa Barbara. Not so with this bottle. While it did improve over 90 minutes, I found this fairly one dimensional. Primary flavor was cherry but was rather thin and light. Hope the remaining bottle improves with age but I suspect it will not.

I was hoping to like this more but found it to have a primarily one dimensional profile with that dimension being predominately sour cherry on the palate. It was a bit better the next day after some air time. Glad I only payed $22 and only bought 3 bottles.

Full Bodied for a Pinot. I'm not even a big California Pinot fan, but this surprised me. (usually stick to Oregon Pinot Noir)
