Decanted 45 mins. ahead. Light garnet color with some orange. Earthy tones lead on the nose, biomass and wood and then cherry, and even some floral notes. Light-bodied and easy-drinking on the palate, not tart, not soft, with herb-inflected black cherry flavors leading over plums. Finishes fast. An absolutely decent wine with some positive attributes. Good QPR at $18.

Unfortunately, not the wine that the 2010 Noceto Sangiovese "Normale" (regular bottling) is. Rather light in color with hints of stone fruits and a touch of oak in the nose. Cherry flavors of relatively high acidity (for an Amador County wine) lead to a medium bodied, ready-to-drink Sangiovese. Appreciate this vintage for its sprightly, picnic-style character while waiting for the 2010 to mature more completely.

I've not found many domestic Sangiovese bottlings that I can tolerate, but this one just makes it into my "drinkable" category. There's some recognizable Sangio aromas and flavors, but there's kind of a thicker viscosity that just doesn't fit for the grape. There's also a candied note to the fruit that I find unattractive and uncharacteristic.

Went pretty well with BBQ ribs and bacon wrapped Yukon gold potatoes.
