I was expecting a better merlot to be honest. At the beginning animal furry, then fruits, one dimensional, the acidity was present but the wine was not so interesting anyway

100%-Merlot themed dinner (The American Club): Next-up was a pair that couldn't be more different. This had a floral nose, bits of roses, graphite. On the palate - dark-fruited, coffee. It was silky with a lot of restrained power. Felt that the balance was impeccable. Give this another few more years and I believe it'll be even better! Had this as my 2nd-WOTN...

The bottles were transferred from the winery on the day of the tasting and opened two hours before pouring.
Purple core, ruby rim. Fully closed to start, evolved a little coffee and cola nut character. Graphite and other mineral sensations on palate, along with harsh tannins. Needs many years of bottle age before it will show its greatness.

Russk Wizards Merlot at the Ritz. Slightly overmature nose and mouth. Nice vrip and liquid mouth. 91+.
