Spanish Whites around $20 (Daniel's): Jeff K. brought this. very interesting. Pretty clear, square shaped bottle with a bunch of sediment at the bottom. The liquid was ruby/orange/brown. Light strawberries on the nose and maybe some plums. Slightly sweet. Smooth. No hints of the 15% alcohol. This is apparently made from wine must that is fortified. I wonder if this is meant to age this long or not. It was quite nice and enjoyable though. Very cool.

Saturday at Mikhail's place: Deep ruby color with a black center, thick enough to leave a light coating on the glass. Nose of smoke, prunes and raisins, a little monolithic but certainly different. On the palate it's full bodied with a taste of smoked herbs, dry black fruits, and a pretty quick falloff in the mid-palate leading to a clean finish. Medium-sweet.

Saturday in Queens (Counts Manor): more smoke, gapy (on steroids) raisins and prunes, medium body, a sweet kick on the finish. YUM dessert wine for the summer evening

Martin Scott Wines (Fall 06); 9/11/2006-9/13/2006 (Lincoln Center): this onthe other hand is good stuff, smoky, ripe, fruity. not an ager but a "drink now and love it" type. pure candied joy in the bottle

Martin Scott Wines Portfolio Event (New York City): Deep ruby color. Nose of baked plum; simple, direct. Good acid on the palate with tons of plum, blackberry fruit. Very sweet.
