Splash decant. When Lafon is on they’re as good as any name in white burgundy. 2012 Genevrieres is an absolute banger, seamlessly balanced between richness and elegance and perfectly developed wafting waves of defined fruit, pastry cream, butterscotch and toasted almonds within its layered minerality. It wraps around the palate with incredible texture, concentration and density with a massively long, silky finish. Crazy good.

LD Farewell Gathering (Upper West Side): A complete and balanced Genevrieres from chez Lafon. One of the finest bottles I have had from the Domaine for which inconsistency seems to be the defining characteristic (for me).
Rich and full, yet harmonious. Thank you THP.

It came together some in the glass but still tasted past peak to me. With the possibly exception of certain Grand Crus, I'm no longer interested in drinking aged white Burgundy as it's just not the same as it used to be. 2014 is as far back as I'll go now with this stuff. Drunk at La Maison du Columbier in Beaune, perhaps the most affordable Burgundy list on earth.

La Paulée de New York Gala Dinner (Pier Sixty, Chelsea Piers - New York NY): Small La Paulee pour from magnum. Great spice with rich apple throughout, the energy from the mineral textures really stand out for me. Good weight, great length. Enjoy through the next 5 years.
