Deep yellow color. Lime, apples, vanilla, and a touch of saline. Nice nuttiness (almond and hazelnut). Nice richness and good finish. At this point in its development, it feels like the oak is slightly outweighing the fruit— or it could just be that I’ve had mostly Meursaults in the more acidic reductive style lately and so that’s what I’m used to? This wine is excellent but in the opposite style. Brought from mainland to Mama’s Fish House on Maui.
3/16/20. Second bottle from Zaltos and back home in middle of COVID scare. Taste is identical to end of February tasting. Amend February tasting note to say it is a bright gold color (there is a bronze edge that shows up even in the pic from Maui). Otherwise, it’s the same wine (well, better because of Zalto’s— a gap even Maui couldn’t bridge).
