Odd to think I am drinking the only bottle of this in the entire CT database... anyway, I don't get anything at all ripe or tropical on the nose or palate, rather some yeastiness, minerality, ghee and some citrus; the mouthfeel (which I'd give 90 points) is nicely dry and with an acidic bite, yet rich and round at the same time, with a lasting bitter-chalky finish. I don't have a lot of experience with mono-varietal xa-rello still wines but it's not hard to see that this grape works well when fermented. Still, this version is very interesting (especially considering I paid less than $10), although not likely to remain so for long. It makes me want to open my remaining bottle of '10 de Villaine Bouzeron aligoté to see if they're as similar as I remember a prior bottle of the aligoté being.

Open and pretty intense nose with banana, butter and dried herbs. Dry and oily rich palate with yummy fruit, carrying acidity and creamy to salty leesiness. Salt liquorice and bitter bite in the lengthy finish. Fermented in a cement egg which gives it a batonnage-like richness without batonnage. Pretty impressive! Good wine and now I really bought the idea of a cement egg, since one of the first things I wrote down was 'batonnage'.
