  • Initially very restrained with a very youthful quality (really tight and very meaty). The fruit is muted, with bacon fat, roasted plum, boisenberry and dark chocolate on the nose. The tannins are very aggressive and it starts to take on a sour cherry component with more time in the glass. I'm not convinced this will get better with time.

  • 70% merlot, 30% cab franc. The cab franc comes through heavy on the nose with wild sage, garrigue, and rosemarry predominance and whiffs of blueberries coming through. Medium body with very brief sweet blueberry notes up front before the herbaceous notes take over, carrying through to the mid-palate. Drying but soft tannins on the finish. Very earthy, herbaceous bordeaux dominated more by the cab franc with the merlot offering body and faint fruit. Drinking fairly well now without need for a long decant, but has enough acidity and tannins to last a few more years.
