  • Peak of maturity. Showing baked apple, ripe pear, mandarin and fleshy yellow fruits. Strong secondary notes of almond liqueur and nutmeg. This is a broad and viscous wine, but there is some suppoting acidity, weak though it may be. Medium finish.

  • This was made for pork and shellfish.Spritz of the sea, with a lot of stone fruits - apricot, quince, pear, Pink Lady apple, marzipan/bitter almond, friesias, lemon, with lovely stone minerality in the background. Lots of flavour, although perhaps not heaps of complexity. This one requires attention, but it's easy enough to drink and really refreshes the palate with foods that have a background sweetness along with plenty of butter or fat. With the acidity here, I think this could get interesting in another year or two.

  • Tuesday Night Double Blind <$30 (Bin 75): Deep yellow with green hues; richer than I'm use to for Soave- malo? lees?, smells waxy, lanolin; very aromatic and effusive on the palate, bitter almond, green apple, slight lemon, creamier mouthfeel; good but I prefer the simpler crisper versions.

  • on the palate, a beautiful wine. some barrel thoughts, just a touch. showing a glimpse of cereal grain on the palate. the nose is a bit more wild with a modest sour beer note. lovely floral notes to the palate and tree fruit, in a subtle pear manner. great example and the best example I've had of Foscarino.
Day 2. Continues to be a WOW wine. Nose did yesterday and does today, continue to show that sour beer aroma. A little on the palate today too. But I love sour beer. Even though it's an odd wine note. I might have to invest in this here wine. To the future!!

  • The wine is clear and bright with a medium lemon colour and presence of legs. The nose is clean and developing, it shows medium intensity aromas of fresh apricots, red apples, white roses, orange peel and hints of fennel. The wine is dry in the mouth with a medium acidity. It has a medium alcohol and a medium body. It has medium(+) intensity flavours of white roses, red apples, orange peel and hints of fennel. The finish is medium(+).

It is a very good quality wine. It has a nice fruit concentration and a decent finish. It has a decent complexity provided by flower and well-layered fruit notes, but it could be even more complex. Can drink now, but it has enough fruit concentration to develop more complexity over the next 2-3.
