  • Found this lost in the midst of the cellar..Enjoyed this so much in its youth, still gorgeous decadent nose which promised so much, but dried tannins, slight flabbiness meant the palate didn’t deliver. But … here’s to a great wine from great winemakers

Actually on day 2 it seems to have gained a little life, weirdly, still not exactly fresh but palate better reflects the decadence of the nose… hmmm.. add a couple of points

  • My second bottle of six; two years after the first. My recollection of the first bottle was disappointment but this time it was much improved. Initial impression is one of high acidity; however, this is balanced against sweet red/black mulberry fruit. Some complexity on the palate too - in an edgy kind of way. Much more open this time round and rather moreish as an accompaniment to chilli con carne. Pleased I bought it now...

  • Hmm. Difficult one to score. It's dominated by usual franc traits but they're all still closed in. It's a little like listening to a brilliantly recorded track on a very average stereo. I'm waiting for it to open up. Let's see if it does. Wait another year at least before uncorking.

  • Deep red at the rim - red fruits, capsicum and a little alcohol on the nose. Medium bodied but quite a dense palate, there is an unpleasant greenness that does dissipate after about an hour and a half's decant. The tannins are very gentle, but there is a fair bit of acidity - I think that this wine could do with another 2 years or so in the cellar.

  • Mainly Cabernet Franc with Merlot and Malbec. I bought this wine due to a recommendation, and 95 points, in Decanter magazine. I must admit to being a little disappointed. The nose showed crushed grape stalks. The palate was leafy, green and a little too acidic for my liking.
