A little bit dusty and slightly muddy at first, but cleaned up with air and ended up showing really well! Fresh and fully mature, silky and soft fruit, perhaps slightly faded and on the decline, but still super delicious at the moment. I'd suggest drinking up though, this one isn't improving from here...

Heater week; 3/26/2023-4/3/2023 (Chicago, IL): I think this is exactly what I expected it to be. The nose is very much old-school, Gerard-era Chave, with a very rustic bloodiness/meatiness to it. The palate is very thin and lean, and very much lacks the weight of a recent 1993. With air, you get more smoke and brine, but the weight never really seems to pick up. Very high acids, as you might expect from a light vintage. I do really love the Gerard-era rusticity here, but the lightness/dilution detracts from an otherwise impressive effort in a very difficult year.

Beautiful nose with red fruit, green olives, smoke, and leather. It's very nuanced and almost subtle at times. Good structure and acidity with more red fruit, cherries, a bit of brine, and dried flowers on the palate. Long finish. This was an awesome experience, a perfectly aged and interesting Chave!

Pretty red fruit, some earth, and olive on the nose. Palate showing complete resolution, as the body is medium to medium light in weight.

a little bricking. Nose is full secondary after an hour of air. Sour cherry really prevalent, some pepper and earth. Perfectly resolved.
