  I don't know if there is a lot of bottle variation here or my palate was just feeling generous last time, but I was not nearly so impressed on this round. Seemed muddled and dull without the distinct Syrah character noted previously.

  The gimmicky aspect of this wine had me feeling like it was a serious risk, but it turned out to be a reward. Possesses genuine Syrah character with some nice blue and black fruits at the core, plus a little black pepper. Lip-smacking finish of red raspberry preserves. Acidity is good and there is nice balance. I think this is at a quality level that could match wines 3-4 times the price.
