  • Spontaneous Mini-Paulée-Roumier, Rousseau, Raveneau... (Burgundy): Still deep color. Funky nose full of mint and VA. Full, black fruit tannic, rustic, not clean. Particularly difficult to drink amongst some great bottles of Burgundy that were poured.

  • Moderately translucent and developed rusted blood color with quite mature mahogany hue and rather pale brick orange rim. The nose is developed and very complex with beautiful, nuanced and rather savory aromas of resin, wizened dark fruits, some raisin, a little bit of leather, hints of earthy tones of sous-bois and a touch of sweet smoke and roasted meat. The wine is moderately full-bodied, developed and very complex on the palate with somewhat sweet, really attractive and delicious flavors of leather, dried blackcurrants, some licorice, a little bit of mushroomy earth, a hint of smoke-cured game and a touch of garrigue. The structure relies mainly on the high acidity; the tannins are ample and generous, but also almost completely resolved and very mellow, mainly contributing more to the texture than to the structure. The delicious finish is rich, ripe and complex with juicy and developed flavors of leather, dried dark fruits, wixened dark berries, some mocha, a little bit of mushroomy earth and a hint of prune.

A harmonious and wonderfully developed Bandol that is still full of life at 21 years of age. Although the wine is approaching its plateau of maturity, there still seems to be a little bit of room for further development. Structure-wise the wine doesn't need any more age, but instead it is drinking beautifully right now. Feels like an aged Bordeaux that tastes like developed Rhône, yet with a more meatier character of its own. This wine shows why you don't want to drink Bandol too young. So very lovely.

  • Nose like a funky and mature Bordeaux, but with more mushroom and power than what regular Bordeaux bottles have. Drinks very well at the moment, fairly developed. At peak now from magnum.

  • Nez de figue, de prune, de réglisse, de gomme à mâcher au melon. Bouche très fondue, mais tannique, équilibrée et suave. Belle bouteille.

  • Slightly delicately coloured; good fruity nose with some gariggue and pepper. Lovely fruit, mineral and balance, drinking very well now from this half bottle.
