  • This wine has an extremely deep, dark ruby color indicating what is to come on the nose and palate. On the nose, layers of black cherry, blackberry, black currant, vanilla bean, and hints of tobacco and eucalyptus. The palate gives an impression of sweetness that flows into huge flavors of smoky vanilla, black cherry, cassis, and blackberry before a long, lingering finish. The concentrated flavors of this wine are in perfect harmony with the wine’s acidity, and bold, smooth, rich tannins. This wine pairs naturally with grilled red meats but can also be enjoyed by itself. Single varietal expressions of Petit Verdot are somewhat of a peculiarity. Like most wineries that use Verdot, Foreign Affair blends it for its colour and aromatics. For this vintage it was decided to showcase the varietal on its own. 15% of the grapes were dried prior to fermentation and 28 months of ageing in French, American, and Hungarian oak.
