  • Move the drinking window up to 2024.
At open its very tight - all tart cranberry and a shallow middle.
At 2 hours it gains heft and starts to exhibit an earthy, feral aspect. The cranberry is still present but more in a complimentary way.
At 4 hours it seems to have peaked, and it’s quite impressive. Mushrooms, fresh-turned dirt, and black cherry/plum/black currant.

Many thanks to The Legend, Darrell Corti, for the recommendation

  • Prior bottle was just over seven months ago and this wine continues to show beautifully. Earth, red cherry and floral notes on the nose. Medium bodied with bright red bing cherry upfront, backed with red berries, raspberry and hints of black cherry through the middle. Retains very good acidity on the backside along with tart red cherry and minerals. The fruit, especially through the middle continues to demonstrate precision and elegance as the mixture of bright red fruit, deeper red fruit notes and acidity create a wine of harmony and balance. Sad that this was my last bottle, but very pleased at how well it showed.

  • Prior bottle was five and a half months ago and it showed a bit differently tonight. Most of that was due to warming from cellar temperature, so it showed more blackfruit notes and a touch tighter than my prior bottle when first opened.

Initially all blackfruit, but as it warmed and opened up, more red cherry, floral and earth notes. Medium bodied with red cherry upfront and nicely rounded depth through the middle. There's a clarity and definition to these Chanin pinots that feels like a combination of fruit jacketed with acidity and minerals that carries throughout the wine, leading to excellent results. Red berry, tart red cherry, acidity and minerals on the backside and finish. This wine continues to hold up quite well and I will wait on my next bottle for June/July 2020.
