Not a fan of ripe high alcohol fruit bombs, so I avoided the FM wines made by Chris Gorman but nonetheless ended up with this one. 15.3% alcohol lands vodka flavors amidst the jammy fruit. Yuck. (Other FMs I own were made by another winemaker whose style makes more sense to me.)

PnP. Eucalyptus, creme de menthe, some dark cherry, and sweet cassis on the nose and palate. Sweetness came around after three hours. Not quite the same complexity as in the past, but a delight nonetheless.

A fantastic WA state Cabernet from Force Majeure. This wine has benefited from some bottle age as the tannins have softened and the flavors have developed. It has a wonderful Cabernet nose of cassis and black fruits, plus pencil shavings, tobacco and baseball glove leather, and a hint of chocolate. The flavors are similar but with some minerality and mountain brambliness tossed in for good measure. Nice acidity, great body and those totally sweet tannins make for a beautiful wine. The finish goes on...and on...and on... This was was a delight and it’s drinking well now, but I’m guessing it hasn’t reached a peak yet. It will go for another 20 years.

This has a great nose right out of the bottle, but I gave it a three hour decant (had along side a 2013 Tignanello) and this was fabulous, but somewhat unidimensional compared to the Tig. Overall, I enjoyed drinking this more, but it lacked secondary and tertiary notes. Big dose of black currant, which I anticipated, finish of cherry and some fine bitey tannins.

This is very well made but needs another 3-5 years. Well made Red Mountain Cab that doesn’t have the heat some of them do.
