I am a lot more positive on this wine (drunk from magnum) than the other reviewers. It is mature but will, for sure, last up to another decade. I decanted it (some moderate sediment) and it took about 90 minutes to hit its stride coming up from cellar temperature. Good work Constant on another great Syrah.

Probably let this go a bit too long. No sign of deterioration based on color which is a deep indigo with no evidence of bricking. However, the raisin notes have become more pronounced and the fruit has flattened out. Tannins have given way to a glycerine like texture. This is a fabulous one which is about a year past prime. Drink up now.

Deep purple. A nose of sour cherry and smoked, gamey meat. Peppered and meaty, with just enough, semi-tart fruit to balance it out. Constant has been one of my favorite Napa Syrahs for a long time. This is not as good or structured as the best years, but is very good and ready to drink now. Might not age as well as some of their bigger vintages.

This is one of my favorite Syrahs. Full bodied with a deep indigo color. Clove, pepper, and raisin notes on the palate. I tend to prefer Syrahs with age because they are rounder and have lost some of the metallic notes that typify Syrah. The Constant is that approachable at an early age but with no indication that it's life is any shorter. Delicious.

Constant Syrah is one of the more distinctive of the CA Syrah offerings. The vineyards are located at the top of Diamond Mountain but on the back side of the mountain which is actually in Sonoma. Dark, opaque purple in color. Fruit forward with rich, dark plum, fig and raisin notes. Lingering finish in a style that emphasizes the sweetness of the fruit rather than the spice and minerality that usually defines a Syrah. It is not that these elements are missing, they are just understated, yielding a delicious, distinctive take on this varietal. The Constant is also a wine to drink young (unlike their Cabs). This 2010 was in a great spot. Hard to imagine this improving much. Part of a fascinating Syrah flight including a 2006 Constant, 2009 90+ and the remnants of an '02 Padthway.
