The wine of the night at the first Wednesday club tasting at the Crossing Restaurant in Clayton… Unbelievably outstanding some thought it was a 40 year old tawny port… But in reality, it was a 60 year old, vintage port, paired with flourless chocolate cake. It was truly something to behold.

Bill's. Quoting Theodor's CT review: this has arrived at maturity with all pieces intact. Aromatics billow from the glass and the texture is silken and full bodied." Dark purple red color, with black raspberry and Fig Newton fruit, orange peel, cinnamon and anise seed. An outstanding showing. Cool bottle too: it was from the seconed to last vintage shipped in barrel to London and bottled there--no label, just a wax seal with 'Fonseca 1963' pressed into it. A very special experience.

Perfectly clear, appropriately pale. Crumbly cork of course. Soft, inviting subtle nose--palate too. Just ahead of the 1977, and clearly ahead of the 70.

Bright, unctuous attack with lovely vibrancy and length. This has real harmony.
