Bill's Monthly Lunch - December 2010 (Vancouver, BC): Tasted blind – medium to deep ruby, slight bricking near the rim. Dark cherries and blueberries on the nose with black liquorice, cigar box and iron. Somewhat of a grainy mouth feel. Opening up in the glass with earthy and graphite notes. A young and very nice wine that had people guessing everywhere from Rhone to Bordeaux—perhaps due to the dark colour and some of the aromas that many of us didn’t associate with pinot noir. Drinks well now but needs another 5+ years to see its best. Excellent. 91+

Tasting Dinner at Sweets and Savouries (Chicago, IL): Reluctantly reveals aromas of light red fruit and mushroom. The palate is tight and not giving much. I saved a small glass to watch this develop. After some time the wine is more generous showing brighter fruits and earthy notes. Framed by underlying acidity and tannin. I liked what this wine hinted at, but not overly pleasurable tonight. The group believed this had lots of potential down the road.

During a Burg dinner. Another positive surprise here. Red and dark fruit, earth, prominent but not drying tannins. Masculine. Aromatic finish.

Pale aroma of stawberry red fruit. Big ripe rich candied red fruit. Still too young. 4/06
